Having sold her first pieces while still at school, Charlie went on to study painting in Florence in 2003 with the British Institute. On returning from Italy she embarked on a four year degree at the University of St Andrews where she graduated with an MA in Art History. Her degree has given her an insight into a wide range of artistic genres from which she draws her influences, the strongest being contemporary artist Hughie O’Donoghue.
Her unconventional mixed media work is inspired by the concept of displacement and the isolation of the individual. Using both the city and country as her foundation, Charlie’s pieces transform commonplace surroundings into barren, dreamlike environments. The result is a collection of works that are both haunting and ethereal. Charlie is currently Artist in Resident at Pump Court Tax Chambers and is represented by Trinity Fine Art, Broadway and Fine Art Commissions Ltd, Bury Street, St James, London.
